According to CSU system data, over 40% of Sac State students qualify for CalFresh benefits. Current changes in eligibility criteria threaten to leave thousands at risk of food insecurity, making community-driven giving more vital than ever. Combined with rising living costs and unexpected financial pressures, many students face mounting barriers to staying enrolled and focused.

These grants help cover critical needs—preventing eviction, repairing a car needed for work, or bridging shortfalls when a paycheck no longer stretches far enough—so Hornets can keep moving toward their goals.
