CARES Fund
At Sacramento State, student success begins with stability. The CARES Fund empowers the Vice President for Student Affairs to provide immediate, flexible support for essential basic needs programs, ensuring that when challenges arise, resources can be directed where they’re needed most.
From expanding food and housing assistance to funding emergency response efforts and student wellness initiatives, the CARES Fund helps maintain the foundation that allows every Hornet to stay focused, healthy, and engaged. It’s not about reacting to crisis — it’s about sustaining momentum and opportunity.
According to CSU system data, over 40% of Sac State students qualify for CalFresh benefits. Current changes in eligibility criteria threaten to leave thousands of students at risk of food insecurity, making community-driven giving more vital than ever.
Your Giving Tuesday gift strengthens the CARES Fund, enabling Sac State to respond swiftly, support strategically, and ensure every Hornet has the stability to succeed.
