Hands-On Research Preparing Tomorrow’s Science Leaders

Experiential learning is shaping how future scientists develop critical thinking and discovery skills, deepen their understanding of the natural world, and inform solutions to complex environmental challenges. In the Evolutionary Ecology of Fishes Laboratory, students explore how species interact, adapt, and survive, including the fascinating study of parental behavior in aquatic systems.

Students design experiments, collect data, and present findings to broader audiences, leaving prepared to contribute meaningfully to scientific and community settings. Through these experiences, students develop analytical skills, persistence, and meaningful experience that mirror professional scientific work. These opportunities help prepare students for careers in healthcare, education, research, and environmental stewardship.

Your support helps expand access to experiences that prepare students for what comes next.

Thank you for your generosity and for helping Sacramento State prepare students to contribute meaningfully to their communities and professions!
