Expanding Global Learning Through Service and Study
Global experiences play an important role in shaping how students understand the world, especially when learning extends beyond the classroom into real communities and environments.
Students in the General Education Honors Program pursue rigorous academic work alongside experiential learning opportunities, connecting coursework to real-world contexts and global perspectives.
Through experiences such as the Irish Heritage Study Abroad program, students can travel and engage in community-based projects such as restoring historic sites, supporting local arts efforts, and contributing to environmental initiatives — gaining firsthand experience through collaboration and cultural immersion.
These experiences help students develop critical thinking, adaptability, and teamwork skills while broadening their understanding of global communities, preparing them to engage thoughtfully in an interconnected world.
Support through the General Education Honors Program Support Fund helps sustain and expand opportunities like this study abroad experience, allowing the program to continue offering high-impact learning and global engagement — expanding access to experiences that prepare students for what comes next.
Together, we can create opportunities for students to learn through experience, contribute to communities, and grow as globally aware leaders — strengthening the connection between education and real-world impact.
Thank you for your generosity and for helping prepare students to contribute meaningfully to their communities and professions.
